Help!! hair Loss!!!

Postby angelbear » Sun Apr 24, 2005 4:26 pm

Hi. I am new to the boards. I have been going thru the menopause thing for about 5 or more years. Now to add to my other symptoms I am losing hair. I do not wanna end up bald. My dr. sent me to a dermotologist and she did lots of blood tests and says my hormones are out of balance. Big surprise lol. Well the only suggestions she has are things I do not want to do. Go on HRT. No dont wanna with my family history of cancer! Birth control pills. No, same reason! Spirolactone, well dont wanna take this. It might balance hormones but is for high blood pressure and I dont wanna take any more meds. Rogaine....well dont really wanna use this, many side effects plus.....wont your hair fall out again if you stop using it? PLUS I cannot afford it and insurance wont pay. I did see a book at the library that Said balance your hormones naturally with nutrition. Do you think this is worth a try??? Any suggestions??? Anyone had to deal with this?? Please reply soon! Thank you!!!!

angelbear, I can imagine how frustrating it is to start losing your hair and I know many, many women suffer with this problem. I'm constantly searching for solutions and usually try to put the info I've found here: http://www.minniepauz.com/hair-loss.html

Here are some additional sites with more information:
http://www.power-surge.com/educate/hairloss.htm
http://www.menopause-metamorphosis.com/ ... oblems.htm
http://www.menopausehysterectomy.com/hairloss.htm

I hope this helps. If not, do a search for menopause hair loss and you'll find a lot more. Sometimes the newest information is hard to find, but we just have to keep digging.
