Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone had ocd or adult add as a symptom of perimenopause.

No, Susie.....I wouldn't connect either of those disorders with menopause. If you already have one of them when you start experiencing meno symptoms, it might worsen or intensify either condition, but I don't think anyone has ever studied it. Do you have ocd or add?

Susie, there should be no connection to either disorder regarding menopause, but I doubt if anyone has studied this. Do you have ocd or add?

Added note: I saw your other post and have found this interesting link:

I found the article very interesting and it has answered some of my questions ,thank you. I think I have always had ocd and add but the symptoms either came back or got worse in the past year. I believe alot of things get worse with menopause. For example, my allergies have gotten much worse and I have developed allergies I never had before.

ocd and menopause or perimenopause

Postby Linnie » Fri Jul 08, 2005 9:07 am

Someone had asked if ocd and perimenopause could be connected. While menopausal symptoms do not cause ocd many women experience a flare up in ocd symptoms due to hormone imbalances. Two very good books to help anyone with ocd symptoms are: Stop Obsessing by Edna Foa and Confronting The Bully Of OCD by Linda Maran, both on amazon.com. The latter written by a sufferer sharing her insight and her therapy from a specialist with the reader, the other written by a Ph.D. Both good.
