I've just began taking Prempro (5 days now), and this info. really calmed some of my fears. I knew I had to try something though, cause my symptoms were becoming almost intolerable!


As a general guide, it’s better to be younger than 60 when you start—or as close to menopause as possible. An otherwise healthy woman just beginning menopause has “no reason not to take hormones,” says Dr. Utian, and may “safely consider hormones for at least five years.”


I'll be discussing the 5 year range with my GYN on my next visit in Jan. '08. I agree that it makes sense to give your body a break after 5 years.
