Is osteoporosis painful?

Postby iluvtolaff » Mon Dec 10, 2007 5:25 pm

I was diagnosed with osteopenia 3 years ago. The past 6 months, I've been feeling pain in my upper back--between my shoulder blades. Could this be a sign that it's getting worse? I didn't know if osteo was painful or not. I've never heard anyone say so.

I believe it's only painful when you have broken or fractured a bone. That's why it's called a silent disease because you have no symptoms until it's too late.
