I'm on Chantix...

Are you a smoker? Do you want to quit, but need support and encouragement from others who have quit or are trying to?

Men don't give a fig about their beer bellies!! Tell him Chantix has been shown to increase their virility!! That should do it!

It's true: Smoking, often marketed as a symbol of virility, increases the risk of impotence. Men who smoke are up to 40 percent more likely to suffer from impotence than those who don't. The more cigarettes smoked, the greater the risk of suffering from a sexual performance problem. But even men who smoked less than 20 cigarettes a day had a raised risk of impotence.

I can't stop laughing.... My husband doesn't care about having more virility at all. He's awesome, but his average has always been only twice... MAYBE 3 times a month. His motto is.."It's not the quantity, it's the quality that counts."

What's up with those beer bellies anyway?? I mean, what if we kept our jeans way below our bellies like that?? Yikes!!! Hey, have you all noticed these low-rise jeans for women/juniors?? I'm seeing more and more belly and love handle hangover on the younger women/teens being accepted by their peers, and I don't get it!! :?: It's like the same thing with the men's beer bellies.. they like to show it off, and don't seem to care. Boy do I feel old!!!

SHHHHHHH!!! My husband might hear you, and decide that he can go back to the performance of his teenage years! (Or kill himself trying!) That would more than likely be the cause of death than his smoking!!! His or mine one!!!

The ones' I like she said is called, 'Grandma Jeans'! (High waisted, so I can feel covered)! Nobody wants to see my belly or hips jiggling around, outside of my clothes!!! Not even ME!!!

This should've been posted at the beginning of this thread:

Some important things to remember:

CHANTIX should be taken after eating and with a full glass (8 ounces) of water (very important)

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's close to the time of your next dose, wait. Then just take your next regular dose

If you slip up and smoke while taking CHANTIX, don't give up. Keep trying to quit and keep taking CHANTIX. Some people need a few weeks for it to work best. Even people who slip up through their ninth week of CHANTIX have been able to quit successfully

The urge to smoke and withdrawal symptoms may be strongest in the first weeks after you quit smoking. But they do lessen with time. CHANTIX can help reduce your urge to smoke, so keep taking it as prescribed. And try to avoid situations that may tempt you to smoke during your first weeks of quitting

When you stop smoking, your body needs time to adjust to the absence of nicotine. You may feel side effects from this

Tell your doctor about all other medications you are taking. Especially tell your doctor if you take insulin, asthma medications, or blood thinners. When you stop smoking, there may be a change in how these and other medicines work for you (also very important)

The most common side effects include nausea (30%), trouble sleeping, changes in dreaming, constipation, gas, and/or vomiting. If you have side effects that bother you or don't go away, tell your doctor.
Most people were not bothered enough to stop taking CHANTIX
For most people, quitting smoking is both a physical and a behavioral challenge, even with treatment. That's why your prescription comes with GETQUIT—a support program designed to help you learn to break your smoking routine.

I wear my fat grandma’s jeans

Everyday
All day
All night too
I can’t get ‘em off
But if I could
I would yes I would
Throw ‘em in the machine
And shrink ‘em four sizes
And put ‘em back on
And then oh my how I’d strut

Listen to this....now my husband is telling people he isn't starting back on his Chantix yet because he wants to make sure the old Chantix is "out of his system" so it will work this time.

Any of you heard of this, or is he making it up so he can keep smoking longer without being scolded by non-smokers?? :?:

That's a new one on me! LOL :laugh2: Bless his heart, he's wanting to quit but... in a way it's like turning away from an old friend. HUH? Chantix does work on keeping away the URGE to smoke, but not the habitual act itself! That was harder for me too! I was committed to work through it though.

Thanks, Zon.

Hey, out of the blue my husband started back on the Chantix's this morning!! He even asked for a whole glass of water to take with the pill like it was suggested here. :D

But what does he do?? He swallows the Chantix pill, drinks 1/2 the glass of water, then smokes a whole cigarette. Then he drinks the other half of the water after smoking.

Oh well, we'll see how it goes "this time".

 Hee Hee HAAA!!!

He's such a character Chels'! Ahhh, maybe something will kick in sooner or later. He has to make up his mind himself. That's something you can't do for him. He might just be testing the waters to see if he r-e-a-l-l-y wants to quit. Hang in there with him!! {If ya can! LOL}

I don't know if he's ever mentioned being nauseated or not, but that's the only one of the side effects of taking Chantix that I suffer from. And not every time I take a dose. Which makes it harder for me to understand. Anyway, I have found if I eat a piece of toast or some crackers before I take it, then I don't seem to get as nauseous.

Shucks! I've said it before; "I don't know how much of my complaints I'm to blame on Chantix or how much to blame on the ole' Minnie Peri"! UH, Minnie Pearl? UH, Minnie Mouse? UH....OH YEAH...Menopause! :spin: :help:

lolol... Zon you gals sure are making this more bearable for me. I still don't get this whole smoking addiction at all. :?: (I've never smoked) Between his withdrawl fits & my menopause meanies, it makes for one crazy household!!

I think that Chantix is giving him him "Angry Tourettes Syndrome". For instance, my husband and I were in the grocery store last evening, and all of a sudden he tells me to put the two items I tossed in the cart back, that it costs too much for what I put in it. I said, "the chicken only adds up to $1.80." And the squash is only 2 pounds, thats a buck at the most. :?: Then he gets all red and shaking, yelling out.. "But it's 5 pounds of chicken, and a whole squash!! That is too much for one person!!! Besides, I hate the smell of chicken grease, it smells up the whole house!! From now on you only eat as much
as you can eat in one meal.. no leftovers Fatty!!"

{{ No, I don't think Mr. Giant Beer Belly just called me that..Did he just call ME fatty, after losing 74 pounds, 5'8", and going from a size 22 to a size 12??)}} OH yeh, my menopause meanies kicked in right then and there for the whole store to hear!! I yelled.." For one thing, it's not 5 pounds of chicken, it's 1- 1/2 pounds, plus it's the tiniest squash they have!! And you already have $14.00 worth of your stuff in the cart already!! Besides, look at your gut, then look at mine!!! Whose the Fatty????"    {{Uh-Oh, Did I just say that??}} Now he's REALLY red, shaking all over, and tells me to put everything back NOW, we're leaving. So I take the cart to go do that, and he comes up behind me asking what I'm doing. I said.. "putting it all back." Then he says to keep it, and then he gets his food, and we were out of there. WEIRD!!!!

WHOA! NO WAY, did he have enough nerve to call you 'Fatty"! Is he still alive? {You don't have to answer that!!!!LOL  I'd love to have been a witness to all this!!! YOU GO GIRL!!! :cheer:

But it's 5 pounds of chicken, and a whole squash!! That is too much for one person!!! Besides, I hate the smell of chicken grease, it smells up the whole house!! From now on you only eat as much
as you can eat in one meal.. no leftovers Fatty!!"

I'm telling you that my hubby would've been wearing chicken and had a hat made especially for him outta squash!!! {Really I don't know what I'd of done or how I would've acted!!!} For one thing...I think my hubby knows better than to see if he could get by with acting like that! Especially in public!!! I know I wouldn't be responsible for my actions!!! Ya know, I've finally figured it out...menopause definitely does make a woman meaner!!! :cuss:

Angry Tourettes Syndrome or nicotine withdrawals, neither one are to be compared to a woman going through menopause! I'm tellin' you, the government should warn the public about how dangerous we women can become!!! And for people to be careful not to push our buttons! We're not to be held accountable for our actions!!!

after losing 74 pounds, 5'8", and going from a size 22 to a size 12??

Wow! And I on the other hand am climbing the scale!!! I don't know how you've done it...{and remained sane!} It seems since I've entered the ole' Minnie, that all I want to do is munch on something! And now without cigs. I grab a snack probably as often as I use to grab a cigarette!!! I'm already a size 16!!! I've NEVER weighed this much in my life!!!
{And I dare my husband to bring it to my attention!} :fire2:

He's bald....I'm Fat....we both already know it! LOL :cry2:

That makes for awfully predictable name-calling during arguments!! hahahha!!!

This Chantix thing is making him even WORSE!! Yesterday I ran out of Splenda ( a sugar substitute). I use it in my coffee. My husband and I were on our way home and stopped at our local convenience store to get him cigarettes. He already said we were going straight home so I couldn't waste the gas to go buy Splenda. So while I was in buying his cigarettes I asked my cashier friend if I could have a few packets of Splenda.. it's free by the coffee. She said sure. I got back to the truck, and he went ballistic!! Ranting about how "low Life" it was to beg for Splenda, that it made us look poor, yadda yadda yadda.

The kicker was, later in the evening we went to the casino, and he must have asked 5 people if he could buy a cigarette off of them, he had already smoked up that pack. They all gave him one for free and wouldn't take any money. I said.. Hey, that's just like me asking for my Splenda when I was out... only you're asking strangers for a smoke!! He said it was different, because he offered to pay. What's up with that??? :?:

Oh.. then this morning he wouldn't take a Chantix because he feels nauseous. He won't eat anything either. I'm wondering how long his grumpy withdrawls are going to last. UGH!!

I fully agree with you this time!!!

He already said we were going straight home so I couldn't waste the gas to go buy Splenda

You should've blew-up on him! :cuss: Tell him that you think it's being wasteful to buy those stupid cigarettes! Or say something like: " You mean to tell me that we can afford to buy both cigarettes and Chantix, but we can't afford to buy my Splenda anymore? Aren't you afraid I might get FAT!!!???"

this morning he wouldn't take a Chantix because he feels nauseous. He won't eat anything either.

No Wonder! I don't see how he can smoke that much while he's taking the Chantix! Why don't he just wait until he's serious about quitting? (I think that's what I'd suggest).
