Connecting menopause and smoking

Thanks to a member's question today, I found a lot of information about smoking and our hormones. Just another good reason to quit! :)

I can validate this info too.... I started smoking when I was 13 and my periods stopped completely when I was 40 or 41. Sure, that sounds great, but that means I've been low on estrogen for 17 years now which puts me at greater risk for osteoporosis.

I also had cataracts in my early 40's and that has been linked to smoking also. Not to mention the problems I've had with my teeth (having them all pulled at age 58 is just SAD!) and that is also partially due to smoking.

I know that smokers have heard most of this and it doesn't really motivate you to stop, but I feel the responsibility to give you the info.
